Trent Lott. George Allen, and John Kerry are going have step it up if they want to keep pace with Biden:
In a critique of the Democratic field, he said of Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he told the New York Observer, a weekly. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
Obama played the repsonse perfectly:
“He was very gracious and I have no problems with Joe Biden,” said Obama, who “took no offense” at Biden’s comment – “Joe was just making news, being Joe.”
There’s no need to pile on when your opponent does something so obviously stupid. This kind of thing is becoming a Biden trademark. You might remember his comments about Indian-Americans last year:
“You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

Given the reaction when Biden says Obama is clean, just imagine what would have happened if Biden had said Obama could use a good wash!
I think the reaction might have gone nuclear….
