Personal freedom can be dangerous but don’t worry Senator Carl Kruger has it in his sights:
A state senator from Brooklyn said on Tuesday he plans to introduce legislation that would ban people from using an MP3 player, cell phone, Blackberry or any other electronic device while crossing the street in either New York City or Buffalo.
NewsChannel 4 reported that Sen. Carl Kruger is proposing the ban in response to two recent pedestrian deaths in his district, including a 23-year-old man who was struck and killed last month while listening to his iPod on Avenue T and East 71st Street In Bergen Beach.
Every state has a few Carl Krugers. Liberty would quickly cease to exist if all of their proposals became law. Their good intentions will eventually result in each one of us being wrapped in a cocoon of oppression if we don’t pay attention.

Nanny State Takes on iPod and Cellphone Walkers…
Please see the comments for more on this subject – Legalbgl pointed out that both of us knew one of the victims that supposedly stirred Kreuger to act. Speeding played a role in Sean’s death as may have Sean’s iPod usage, but it also important to not…

I didn’t know iPods got that loud. Mine at max volume still doesn’t drown out the screaming and bitching coming from NY.

BIG BROTHER to Protect you.
What is so funny here is that the people can’t see the forest for the trees I went to NYC and the traffic is so bad even if you don’t have a IPOD they will run you over. I have never ever seems such a screwed up mess as to the traffic in NYC. IT’S bumper to bumper and honking man someone could make billions out of the horn usages there too. What you NEED to do is re route all the millions of cars that JAM 42nd street from one end to the other. Besides you can’t make a law to suit your self.

I have read several articles about Carl Kruger’s proposed ban on ipods and in my opinion Carl Kruger must be psychotic, or certainly an imbeccile of some sort. The rights of the state need to end somewhere.
If someone is stupid enough to be completely oblivious to their surroundings and die that is their own problem. IPods evolved from what used to be called a “Walkman” – if you can’t use Ipods while walking down there street – where is it that we were supposed to use them? While swimming?

Just another way to ticket people. Plus it puts Kruger in the headlines makes him feel powerful. Why don’t they just advertise that the statistics reveal a problem and people should be aware of it.

I wonder who pissed him off. He proabably had to sit and wait while some kid doddled across the road while the light sat green. Way to make the rest of us pay for something so stupid as impatience. Lets all be sure to think before we vote these people into office, take the poll on who you think should be the next president and NewsMax will post the results!
