There is an enormous amount of interest in this video thanks to mentions by The Drudge Report, Glenn Beck, Pat Gray, Walton & Johnson, and others. The site may be slow and unavailable at times. Annette and her team at Hosting Matters are doing a great job and are working overtime to keep the site up. I’ve trimmed most of the content from this page to ease the burden on the server until the traffic subsides. Once the server cools off a bit I’ll return Blogs of War to its usual format.
This is ten minutes of raw video that I recorded at today’s rally in support of Joe Horn in Pasadena. The video starts with the arrival of Quanell X and a handful of his New Black Panther Party minions. What Quanell might not have known is that several hundred Joe Horn supporters, including about a hundred bikers, were waiting for their arrival. It quickly became, as expected, pretty intense. Everyone got incredibly noisy, there was some pushing and shoving, and I got the real sense that the crowd was going to lose control at times.
In the video you’ll see Quanell and his group march up to Joe Horn’s house and attempt to speak to the media (which is the only reason they’re there) and get denied by the huge crowd and roaring Harleys. Quanell and friends then attempt to move to another street and speak to the media but the crowd follows and chants “USA! USA!” until he and his friends retreat - quickly. The pro-Joe crowd was raucous and intimidating but mostly in control. Watching Quanell almost break out in tears over his inability to get media time was just priceless.
The biker angle has been played up by the media but most of the crowd seemed to come from Joe Horn supporters in the neighborhood. Many said they were there primarily to stand in opposition to the racist and sensationalist tactics of Quanell X. They accomplished their mission.

I’m getting tons of email about this video. I’ll answer a few of the questions here to avoid repeating myself:
Was the pro-Joe crowd yelling racist comments?
If they were I didn’t hear them. If you watch the video you can hear what I heard but remember that I was also scrambling to follow the action. I was there over an hour before Quanell X arrived to take photos and I didn’t hear a single racist comment. In fact, people repeatedly told me that they didn’t see a racial element to the story and resented the addition of that component to the case.
Was Quanell X making racist statements?
To be honest I never heard a word the man said. The crowd was just too loud.
Are you a Joe Horn Supporter?
I am a supporter of the 2nd amendment and believe that citizens should have the ability to defend themselves and their property. However, I am somewhat ambivalent about the Joe Horn case. I’m not shedding tears for the criminals he killed but I believe that he should have exercised more restraint and followed the instructions of the 911 dispatcher. That said, Joe gets the benefit of the doubt from me.
Why did you attend the rally?
My primary motivation was to be present and record the event as an independent observer so that people could reach their own conclusions about what was sure to be an intense showdown.

Great video! I do not know all the specifics of the incident, so I can not judge whether Mr. Horn was 100% justified or not. The race of the thieves is immaterial. They put themselves in the position of risking their lives to steal from another person…and they lost. It was beautiful to watch this race divider get run out of town. That kind of business is one of the things that is ruining our beautiful country.

He demanded that the Pasadena PD follow the letter of the law yet he refused to pull over for the Houston PD several years ago. The media needs to quit giving him an outlet to spread his black militant racist hate and shut him down.

He had no problem mouthing off when garrot mallot killed a black man on a metro bus, but was nowhere present when the grand jury no billed mallot. Why not Q-ball? Where was the justice then? Why weren’t you there to say that(white) Garrot Mallot acted properly and in self defense? Why weren’t you there to show that justice did prevail? Is it because your mouth runs faster than your brain can? This issue by Q-ball with Joe Horn is nothing more than an insult to all the “real” black leaders everywhere, that really do believe in justice.

Yankee Jim are you from Houston? If not, then please keep in mind what a social parasite Quanell X is in the Houston community. A few years ago when Gary Graham was executed, Quanell X openly told blacks to ‘go River Oaks and mug white folks’. The media needs to boycott him.

I’m not comfortable having dissent shouted down. Having said that, there is a difference between honest dissent and mindless drivel.
It is too bad that the rest of the country can’t do what Texans did, which was shout down a bone fide racist like Jesse Jackson. May Texas lead on! This country is tired of being beat up verbally for non-issues.

Yankee Jim, QX wasn’t there for freedom of speech, he was there to intimidate and pontificate. When the other folks expressed THEIR freedom of speech, his media event went sour, he couldn’t handle it, and he tucked tail and ran. Because he was in tears, you defend him alone.
Admit it, this is the first time you’ve ever seen a left wing, violence advocating, radical loudmouth shouted down — a tactic that clowns like QX and his ilk often use was simply turned against him. That’s what your problem is, getting a taste of your own medicine.

Maybe what Quanell X and the “New Panthers”need do is focus more on controlling the lawless-ness of ALOT of their fellow community members and conform more to what almost every other race, culture and religious background are making efforts to do here and that is obey basic social laws and educate towards better lifestyles,…I mean,…this Afro-American Community have been living in this Country for alot longer than most of these other cultures and races have and the “Racism” issue seems to continually follow them more than any other,….they should be doing better than all of them on ALL LEVELS,…….

I watched the video and I just want to say that I couldn’t be more proud to be an AMERICAN at this moment. This “X” guy is just an example of what is wrong in America. There need to be more people watching out for their neighbors. I don’t advocate being a vigilanty….but if more people got involved in their “OWN” neighborhoods maybe there would be less crime and illegal immigrants.

I support my right to take action against a preditor.
This stand in Pasadena was done to stop a racial fraud from getting his face and diatribe to the media. I am proud of the community of Pasadena to take to the street in a peaceful manner to stop him.
We don’t know what happened that night because we weren’t there. All we can do is listen to the 911 tape. Joe was asked to protect a neighbor’s home, witnessed a burglary in progress, felt the perps were going to escape, and took action to prevent him from harm and their escape.

This is great. It is time to TAKE BACK AMERICA and stand against loosing our USA rights to any people, race, or religion, etc. who think they can make a majority of the country change for what a few think they have rights to. It is time to say NO to politicians who don’t listen to the people, to illegal immigrants who are wanting amnesty for breaking laws when we as citizens are expected to suffer consequences for laws we break, to those religious beliefs that are changing our country’s religious background and gaining rights we can’t have, and to criminals who think they can reck our lives and have protection. The video, excluding the focus of what was going on, just reinforces that the consensus is getting stronger that we can stand together and win for what is right to stay right nonviolently as possible.

My husband and I watched this video together and felt a sense of hope well up within us for the future of America. We, all to often, witness the stifeling of true free speech and are forced to endure what the media would have us believe. It makes a person mind numbed and ignorant to what really goes on in the world. I have to say that this was a heart-warming display of what it truly means to be a red blooded American.

its interesting to see all the different opinions on this one but what seems to be lost to me (and probably others) is if he needed to say something he could have stated his case on this one from the courthouse the statehouse steps his house. he chose joes house to propogate his own needs and ends. hard to get people to hand you money for them escalades if you arnt making as much media hype as possible. we have a judicial system for a reason let it take its course and and if your not satisfied go to the media then.

We have depended too long on our government to enforce the law. It is clear that government has become the enforcement tool of the likes of Quanell-Xcrement. Witness The two Border Patrol agents who are in prison for doing what was right to keep several hundred pounds of dope from reaching our children. They shot the crook in the butt. I don’t want to see our country resort to vigilantism. However, that will happen when the good folks no longer have confidence in their local, state and federal governments. We see our soldiers and Marines arrested for doing their duty. We see good law enforcement personnel being arrested for doing their duty. However, we don’t see crooked politicians, judges, and the so-called do-gooders being arrested for their real crimes. This is truly the day when good is called evil and evil is called good. We must all pull together to preserve our Constitutional rights. Extremists left-wing radicals do not have an exclusive right to freedom of speech. It is there for all of us citizens.

This video is a sad indictment of ugly Americans. A large, obnoxious, white crowd determined to intimidate and drown out what appears to be a peaceful demonstration by Quanell X and his associates.
The obesity of the crowd and the “panthers” was staggering for this non-Texan. Why is almost everyone in the video, apart from the cameramen, so fat? Why was the crowd apparently all white if the claim from the locals that the suburb includes all races is to be believed?
I hope justice in Texas is not just about who can yell loudest. The Joe Horn matter should be settled by the courts and I support any peaceful attempt to remind the authorities of their responsibilities to deal with this matter in a timely manner.

These are the types of demonstrations that will be neccesary by all of us to take back our country. I haven’t felt such pride since Stephen F Austin drew a line in the sand at the Alamo. That you decided to censor “racist” comments is a bit bizarre to me. Race is at the heart of many issues affecting our society. Yet, only certain segments of the populace are allowed to comment at all on them. Clearly, this situation has a racial aspect to it. So does violent crime and property crimes as a whole. Just a cursory glance at the FBI statistics shows how important racial issues are in regards to crime. If race is not an issue here, how come the Black Panther choice of actions? Even the wording of the Houston news reporter was already slanted against the homeowner in defense versus being solidly against the criminals.
Furthermore, it is no surprise to me to see the vast majority, if not all, of a certain race of the crowd in support of bagging two criminals as well. This is the same scenario played out over and over again on so many important social issues. From Constitutional rights, Massive Illegal Immigration, defense, welfare, to educational and work performance standards, race plays the key factor despite censoring this fact or not. One simply can not delete the consequences of differing DNA which has been developed over hundreds of thousands of generations by playing political correctness games. This blog may allow censorship. But nature does not. That’s why two criminals of a certain race are dead. And one defender of another race took decisive action. This is typical. Despite political correctness.

I absolutely loved this!!! You don’t mess with the Texans. As someone that lived in Houston for about 10 years - this doesn’t surprise me. I wish more people would do exactly what Joe Horn did and the people then rally around. I’m beginning to think we need a little more vigilante justice in ANY CITY. Seems like the cops hands are tied with most things. Because of this and the support Joe got, Harris County better not bring any charges against him or there will be a bigger outcry.

I’m a Texan and can not be more proud of that state than I am right now. My husband has always loved the idea that he married a Texan. People like this Mr. Evans guy (Quanell X) should get a real job but then he probably can’t stand the hours. And yes all Americans should be standing up for their rights against these mouth pieces. The quiet majority had better stand up now and be counted and the politicians had better start listening. I am so proud of the fact that these people stood up, shouted down and didn’t become violent, just committed. Great, great, great.

What I’d like to know is what is it to Quanell X if illegals are shot robbing a mans home?
Seems he is just as big of a threat to lawkeeping as that illegal alien was who was shot.

Joe Horn was wrong. I understand the anger, the frustration, but, if a cop orders you not to shoot because there are no HUMAN LIVES in danger, you do not shoot. Joe Horn was not protecting a man, woman or child from immediate danger.
The looters disobeyed the law, and so did Joe Horn. He disobeyed a lawful order from a police officer. That is also a crime. And, if there were not a significant amount of racists in that crowd, there would not be a significant amount of cheering taking place after the n-word was slurred at 7:53 in the video. Pointing that out is not pulling a race card, it is stating the obvious.
I am all for the 2nd Ammendment. And, I am also for respecting authority. Joe Horn clearly has no respect for authority.

If Quanell interjected himself into that situation with honorable intentions of working together for a solution, then he would have acknowledged the lady that thanked him. Did you notice she was standing right in front of him & said it several times & he blew her off? That revealed his true motivation was to get in front of a camera. If he had been there for the right reasons, he would have appreciated someone in that crowed being glad he was there & any decent person would have a kind remark for her. A dispatcher is NOT a police officer. Mr. Horn was not ordered by a police officer to stop. There were NO police officers on the scene. He had every right to defend himself. He tells the burglars to stop or he’ll shoot, and they don’t, and he shoots. Done. I’m sorry for the families of these crooks, really am. The family always suffers for the actions of the criminal. But these guys were breaking and entering, and they sure may have been armed - many crooks are.

I watch this video and I get two feelings.
The first one is hope; hope that maybe we as a nation aren’t as far gone as I (and others) sometimes think. When a man rises up to defend his neighbors and needs support, the same neighbors he defended come to his aide. That is one of the greatest things a community can offer… support for one of their own. Maybe, just maybe, the criminal element will take note and feel decidedly unwelcome in that community and many others.
I also feel a strong sense of national pride; pride that comes from being able to say “We may not agree with our neighbors all the time, we may not like the things they say or do, but when they need us, by God they can lean on us.”
I hope that if Mr. Horn ever does get charged for his defense of his neighbors and his community, I hope the jury pool gets picked from the side of this rally that was shouting “USA”.

Why didn’t I see media coverage of this event. This is one of the finest examples of counter protest the world has ever seen. They didn’t use any violence even though they were an ANGRY mob. They used a very clever technique for starving Quanell of his oxygen — the media. This should be shown in classrooms all over the world and taught as the perfect example of citizens united against race baiting. It was just wonderful to see all that gray hair and beautiful houses as the backdrop for such a passionate display. I am so proud of my fellow Houstonians!

What people may not realize is Mr. Horn’s neighborhood is a nice one, a quiet one, in a section of Houston (really Pasadena) where people work hard to earn the money to have a nice house. Pasadena’s claim to fame is chemical and petroleum plants that make the plastics and gasoline we all depend on. The air often smells bad. These are not rich folks born with trust funds. There are people of all colors but predominately caucasion, non-white hispanic, and illegal aliens. Furthermore, the burglars were not the typical NBP Party types — they were illegal aliens. One even had several aliases he used. The burglars were dark skinned so maybe this is why QX was there? I didn’t see him protesting over the deaths of the African American family (newly married husband, pregnant wife, and her 2 year old) that was killed in their little Corrolla when a drunk illegal hit them on the highway in Houston last summer. Didn’t see QX on the news protesting their deaths down at the Mexican consulate. Of course, there is still racism in our country but this issue is about citizen rights and being mad about our open border policies and having our towns overrun by illegals. And the crimes they commit.

I read three papers daily plus scope the net mostly for political news. In our local papers there was nothing about this event. Unlike Jena, the Texas incident made no script here. I live in a small conservative community encircled by an enclave of liberals who move to our area to escape crime and yet vote for fabian socialism the likes of which Hillary and Obama promote. This Q-X guy is a “wannabe” wishing to join the ranks of racial pimps like Jackson and Sharpton undoubtedly for financial aggrandizement. The “New Black Panthers” differ only in age from those I remember in the early 60’s when I was a grad student at IU. Provided Texas does have aggressive gun laws - people have to understand that the Constitution and Bill of Rights were meant to be used together. If you chip away at the Bill of Rights by attacking the right to defend yourself and own a gun then the Constitution erodes.

When I review this video it does not warm my soul as an american. It exposes shameful truths of inherrent bigotry. The black panthers met up with white bikers and the presence of racial tension is apparrent to all unbiasedly watching. I also find it UNBELIEVEABLE that a criminal would attack a TEXAN with a loaded shotgun. QX is no black leader and Joe Horn opens the door to anarchy. I wonder how QX will respond next time…maybe with a crowd of angry blacks to match the intensity. Will you still be proud americans filled with new hope? Shameful!!

I listened to the tape and the statement was about the burglars, not about the “n” word. Hopefully more of us will use our “speech” right and get in front of jackson and sharpton the next time they spew their racist comments.

It is actually you that is showing your ignorance, as well as many other poorly educated, about a so-called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I suggest you pick up a copy of the Bill of Rights, which is the first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America. Since you seem to lack a proper education I will help you out on this here. The FIRST AMENDMENT states:
CONGRESS shall make no laws…abridging the FREEDOM OF SPEECH,…or the right of the people peacably to assemble,…
Did you understand what you just read? Congress is prohibited from regulating speech, not the people that peaceably assembled in Pasadena to support Mr. Horn from this instigation of race-baiting. Mr. Quanell Evans has no right to speech if the chooses they do not want to hear what he has to say, which is clearly the case. His FREEDOMS were not violated because Congress had no hand in restricting his message. As for the comment about “another black eye on America” this is absolutely ludicrous, the only “black eyes” come about because of the schizophrenic nature and ramblings from people like yourself.
It is good to see the people exercising their GOD given RIGHTS as those who came out to support Mr. Horn. I am also curious as to why criminals are always given far more rights than law abiding citizens!
