Drudge is having a little fun at Hillary’s expense:

TALK OF HILLARY EXIT ENGULFS CAMPAIGN

Facing a double-digit defeat in New Hampshire, a sudden collapse in national polls and an expected fund-raising drought, Senator Hillary Clinton is preparing for a tough decision: Does she get out of the race? And when?!

“She can’t take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada,” laments one top campaign insider to the DRUDGE REPORT. “If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn’t want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats.”

Meanwhile, Democrat hopeful John Edwards has confided to senior staff that he is staying in the race because Hillary “could soon be out.”

“Her money is going to dry up,” Edwards confided, a top source said Monday morning.

As I said in a previous post it’s way too early to count Hillary Clinton out of this race. However, I think this story is going to hurt her. It’s going to be a huge topic for the blogosphere and pundits and that is going to make her appear increasingly vulnerable. That could set the stage for a dramatic comeback but I suspect that it will only accelerate the unraveling process.

Outside the Beltway
If, as looks increasingly likely, she loses badly tomorrow in New Hampshire, she’s going to feel as if the wind has been knocked out of her. She expected to win these two easily and then march on to a coronation. But the idea that she can’t afford to stay in the race through February 5th is just silly.

This has to boost the Barack Hussein Obama campaign.

I agree with those “others close to the former first lady.” I don’t think there is any way she can beat Obama. In fact, I believe that she will not win a single primary. Obama’s momentum is already unstoppable, at least by her.

Hot Air
The Clinton true believers, god love ‘em, are putting on a brave face even as the new Marist poll contemplates the outside chance of a disastrous third-place finish tomorrow. I don’t mind seeing her lose, but I’ll cop to a very dark secret: Thanks partly to my hunch that we’d have an easier time with her than Obama in the election and/or as president, partly to my impatience with the vapid, messianic “change” crap Obama’s peddling, and partly to my instinctive sympathy as a beta male for anyone who’s been humiliated, I … kind of feel a little sorry for her. Kind of. A little. Oh, the shame.

Blue Crab Boulevard
That’s twice the money problems rumor has surfaced just today. But James Carville is mentioned in the story as well. This story reeks of Carville and his media manipulation.

Riehl World View
One cannot be re-born until you die. What better way to do it than to plant the story of your demise, eventually pinning it on the underhanded dealings of a presumably noble competitor’s campaign? Nothing like sucking the wind out of your competitions headline grabbing success with a staged funeral that doesn’t take place. I don’t buy it at all.

So, why the rumor? Riehl argues that the Clinton campaign itself is behind the rumor, in an attempt to orchestrate some kind of giant comeback later this month or in February. That’s one option indeed, but it could also be spread by rival campaigns in an attempt to discourage people from voting for her and, instead, to jump on Obama’s bandwagon (or to support Edwards of course).

Have you ever seen a sadder Drudge Report Siren? Hillary can’t leave Matt, not after he’s been telling the world how she’s so smart and tough and the whole President Clinton Jr. thing is inevitable! Hang in there, Matt! Hillary might still be your Queen.

Atlas Shrugs
Hillary is in free fall. Big time. Looking like Obama/Edwards…

Gun Toting Liberal
As I read the breaking news from The Drudge Report, the tears began to flow uncontrollably; Sir Hillary Rodham Clinton’s “presidential goose” just might be cooked. My heart is broken. No, really. It is. No, that’s not a smile; it’s a nervous tick…

Wake Up America
As to Edwards saying her money is going to dry up? Eventually maybe, but certainly not yet. If Edwards does, indeed, think Hillary “could soon be out”, then I would ask for his definition of the word “soon”.
