The formal announcement is expected early Saturday morning but the secret appears to be out:
The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.
Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama’s running mate — Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine — have been told they have not been selected for the vice presidential slot.
An Obama-Biden ticket started looking like a serious possibility on Tuesday. I, and many other conservatives, expect this pick (if it materializes) to backfire:
Put aside Biden’s gaffe-prone-goof-ballness, for a second, and there’s still a massive problem facing Obama. An Obama-Biden ticket raises a very important question – one that will have voters scratching their heads. Why is the experienced guy playing second string? This question is coming up regardless of Obama’s selected running mate. He can’t possibly select a running mate that has less experience than he does (a T.G.I Friday’s assistant manager perhaps?) so he’ll have to deal with the internal experience gap either way. His camp will probably try to deflect the question by positioning the VP choice as a integral part of the administration, not just a tie-breaking funeral attender. He, or she, will be a new kind of VP. Right.
But that’s just the experience gap. There’s still the out of control mouth, borderline racist comments, plagiarism, narcissism, temper, and previous Obama bashing to contend with. Picking Biden can only end in one seriously fun to blog political disaster. I hope it happens.

actually what people will notice is how much smarter Biden is than McCain;and he will expose all the misleading distortion on McCain’s past that your talking points like to exemplify.Lets face it Republican politics puts a premium on lying to the public;and McCain;whom does have much more substance than that fratboy in the Whitehouse,is a lying machine-all documented and on tape-guess you never factored integrity into your equation-I support the troops and if you want to as well;vote for the Dems
